Big 12 Football: All Pokes Staff Big 12 Power Rankings After Week 12
The Big 12 is in a very, very interesting situation heading into Week 13. Not a single team has clinched a spot in the Big 12 title game. Oklahoma State is in a good spot to make the title game with a win over BYU, but Texas is the only team that fully controls its destiny as they lead the conference.
Here are the updated Big 12 football power rankings from the All Pokes staff.
1. Texas, 10-1 (7-1)
In a game that was supposed to be a test in Iowa State, the Longhorns came away with a 26-16 win to keep their College Football Playoff chances alive as well as staying in the driver's seat of the Big 12 title game.
2. Kansas State, 8-3 (6-2)
The Wildcats took down the Jayhawks 31-27 to maintain their Big 12 title hopes after completing a comeback win. With the ranked win, they boosted their resume for the power rankings.
3. Oklahoma, 9-2 (6-2)
Though it was another close call, the Sooners defeated BYU last Saturday. Their lone big win comes as an upset win over Texas, and their two losses to Kansas and Oklahoma State were pretty crucial, as they've got a chance to miss the Big 12 title game as they don't control their destiny and need help.
4. Oklahoma State, 8-3 (6-2)
With as good of wins as the Cowboys have, they have equally as bad losses. Their season has been a rollercoaster, but they seem to be back on track as they downed Houston this past weekend.
5. Kansas, 7-4 (4-4)
Injuries and a recent loss to the Wildcats in a very winnable game really, really hurt the Jayhawks this season, but nonetheless, they've been an impressive program.
6. Texas Tech, 6-5 (5-3)
The Red Raiders finished a very close game against a UCF team that has been improved over the past few weeks. They continue to be impressive in conference play.
7. Iowa State, 6-5 (5-3)
The Cyclones had a chance to really shake things up against Texas, though they fell short and took a loss. After quite an impressive start, they've slowly fallen.
8. West Virginia, 7-4 (5-3)
The Mountaineers had an impressive win this past weekend, taking down Cincinnati 42-21. They remain solid in conference play.
9. TCU, 5-6 (3-5)
The Horned Frogs routed Baylor this past weekend and take momentum into what could be a Big 12-altering game against Oklahoma in Week 13.
10. UCF, 5-6 (2-6)
The Knights, after a huge win over the Cowboys, took a close, one-point loss to the Red Raiders, though they continue to struggle in conference play.
11. BYU, 5-6 (2-6)
Like TCU, BYU has a very good chance to shake up the Big 12 next weekend. They're coming off a close loss to Oklahoma in a game that they very well could have won.
12. Houston, 4-7 (2-6)
The Cougars blew a solid lead over Oklahoma State this past weekend as they now have six losses in conference play and no longer can get to bowl eligibility.
13. Baylor, 3-8 (2-6)
The Bears took yet another loss, this time a blowout loss to TCU as the Bears continue to disappoint on the season.
14. Cincinnati, 3-8 (1-7)
The Bearcats' first season in the Big 12 continues to disappoint as they took a big loss to West Virginia this past weekend.
