The Oklahoma State Cowboys had taken five weeks in a row -- all of which were impressive wins -- to repair their image after losing to South Alabama and Iowa State in back-to-back games.

After finally repairing their image and crawling into both the College Football Playoff rankings and the AP Poll over the past few weeks, the Cowboys are now taking a slight drop.

The Cowboys dropped their Week 11 matchup 45-3 to the UCF Knights. The Knights came out swinging early and had a game plan that neutralized the Cowboys' offense entirely. Also, the Knights made big play after big play.

A week after a huge Bedlam win, the Cowboys were embarrassed on ESPN and will now have to win their next two matchups and hope they find their way into the Big 12 Conference Championship game.

In the meantime, the Cowboys fell to No. 24 in the AP Top 25 Poll. This is on par with their No. 25 ranking in the updated coaches poll, too.

It's a tough blow for the Cowboys, but they remain ranked and have two very winnable games ahead of them. Again, there is still plenty of potential in the season and the Cowboys are in a good position to be playing both a conference championship game and a solid bowl game after the regular season.

Given how the season started, the Cowboys have been much improved and their inefficiencies against UCF felt like anomalies and something they won't struggle with again this season.

However, they did get jumped by Kansas State and Oklahoma in the rankings -- two teams they beat. It'll be interesting to see how the College Football Rankings committee reacts to Oklahoma State's tough loss in Florida.

While these rankings don't mean much in retrospect, it's nice for the team to be able to be recognized for their success given where they started their season.
