Cowboys Quarterback Alan Bowman Granted Seventh Year of Eligibility
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have had quite the offseason so far. They didn't see a max exodus in the transfer portal with players leaving as they did a year ago, but rather have gotten commitments from multiple key contributors to return.
Key offensive players like Ollie Gordon and Brennan Presley, along with the starting offensive line, have announced their return to the program. Rashod Owens and De'Zhaun Stribling will round out an incredible wide receiver room.
Still, there was questions looming as to what the Cowboys would do at the quarterback position. Alan Bowman, who started at quarterback for Oklahoma State, applied for and was granted an eligibility extension. He's good to return for a seventh season of college football, according to a release from Oklahoma State Athletics.
Just after the announcement came from Oklahoma State, Alan Bowman took to social media to confirm the announcement.
"Let's run it back..." Bowman's post read.
Before transferring to Oklahoma State a year ago, Bowman had spent five years playing college football, starting his career in 2018. He spent three years at Texas Tech before transferring to Michigan, where he rarely saw playing time.
Bowman threw for 3,460 yards on 60.7 passing efficiency over 14 games for the Cowboys this past season. He led the program to the Big 12 title game and helped Oklahoma State turn things around after a rocky 2-2 start.
While Bowman underwent a quarterback battle this past season, it seems as if his starting position is secured for the 2024 season as he returns for one last chance at a Big 12 Championship, especially with the conference realignment.
"I love Stillwater and this program, so I'll be back in 2024 to make a championship run," Bowman wrote in his social media post.
Along with what Ollie Gordon said after the Cowboys won the Texas Bowl, it's clear this team has some high goals set for the upcoming college football season, and much of the team is returning to help reach those goals.
