Mike Gundy Confirms De'Zhaun Stribling Will Miss The Rest of The Season
The Oklahoma State Cowboys had a less-than-desirable start to the college football season. They began 2-2, including a loss to South Alabama, one of the worst losses Mike Gundy has taken since taking over at Oklahoma State.
There was, however, one bright spot. De'Zhaun Stribling transferred to Stillwater from Washington State. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound wide receiver had an impressive 198 yards on 14 catches over the course of three games. He caught a big touchdown against Arizona State in Week 2, too.
Ahead of the matchup against Kansas State, when Stribling's services would be needed, yet he was ruled OUT due to an unknown injury at the time.
It was later reported by Ashton Slaughter of The O'Colly that Stribling suffered a left wrist injury in this past week of practice.
This, of course, was confirmed by Gundy after the Cowboys' 29-21 win over the Wildcats.
“Stribling is done for the year,” Gundy said. “That was a tough break for us — found out a couple days ago.”
Though the offense hadn't found its stride yet, Stribling was a bright spot and was bringing consistency to the Cowboys. In each of the three games where he caught a pass, he tallied more than 60 yards.
“He’s got a hand deal. He’s got a hand that’s not gonna work for a few months,” Gundy said.
During the game against Kansas State, Stribling had a wrap on his hand while on the sideline, supporting his team.
This comes at an unfortunate time, as Alan Bowman looked incredibly comfortable under center, throwing the rock to a variety of receivers.
Jaden Bray and Rashod Owens -- who stepped up in Striblings' absence -- both had more than 75 yards. Brennan Presley added 40 yards on four receptions. There are no questions as to whether Stribling would have had a big game or not.
