A few weeks ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers were at a crossroads. Kenny Pickett went down with an injury and the team was on a small losing streak. The offense needed a spark of life, so they turned to former Oklahoma State star quarterback Mason Rudolph.

In three games played, including a crucial Week 18 battle, Rudolph has come away with three straight wins. Most recently, Rudolph passed for 152 yards while completing 18 of his 20 passes, which set a Steelers record for pass completion percentage with a minimum of 15 passes.

In his efficient game, the Steelers routed the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 to keep them alive for the playoffs. They finished 10-7 on the season and will now be watching a few games on Sunday as they look to find their way to postseason play.

As a matter of fact, Rudolph's Sunday plans are quite simple as their playoff destiny is no longer in their hands.

"Yeah, I'm just gonna watch some games tomorrow and, yeah, have a beverage probably and watch it and see what happens," Rudolph said after the Steelers win.

The former Cowboys quarterback's recent breakout has been a sight to see for both Oklahoma State fans and Steelers fans alike. For Cowboys fans, they're able to see their former star quarterback get the shot he deserves under center, while Steelers fans have him to thank for even being in the playoff race on the final day of the NFL regular season.

“I’m just thankful,” Rudolph said. “I’m enjoying each day, whether it’s practice or visiting with (media) or playing out there. It’s been a long time, and I’m just so thankful and grateful for the opportunity.”

Rudolph has been in a backup quarterback role with the Steelers since 2018 and, while he's gotten snaps and playing time, he's never gotten a true shot under center. In 2022, Rudolph was even moved to the third string behind Mitch Trubisky.

It'll be interesting to see how the Steelers handle their quarterback debacle whether it be in the postseason or even heading into next season.
