Former Oklahoma State QB Hired as Atlanta Falcons' Offensive Coordinator
After coaching in the NFL for years, a former Cowboy has been hired as an offensive coordinator.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Atlanta Falcons are hiring Zac Robinson as their offensive coordinator. The five-year NFL assistant will be a part of new head coach Raheem Morris’ staff.
In 2023, Atlanta finished in the bottom half of the league in both points scored and total offense while posting a 7-10 record. Robinson spent the past five seasons in various roles with the Los Angeles Rams.
In the previous two seasons, he has worked as the pass-game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, working with players such as Matthew Stafford and Baker Mayfield. Before that, he was the assistant quarterbacks coach in 2021 when Stafford helped lead the team to a Super Bowl win.
Robinson held that same role in 2019 and was assistant wide receivers coach in 2020. Before the start of his coaching career, the former Cowboy played in the NFL for four seasons, mainly as a practice squad player who never saw any game action.
However, he was the first notable Oklahoma State quarterback in the Mike Gundy era. Robinson started at quarterback for OSU in his last three seasons and led the team to three bowl games.
In his sophomore season, he threw for 2,824 yards and 23 touchdowns. In that 2007 campaign, he also threw for a career-high 430 yards against Texas, but OSU blew a 21-point fourth-quarter lead to miss out on the upset win.
As a senior in 2009, Robinson nearly led the Cowboys to their first BCS bowl game after starting the season 9-2. However, a shutout loss at Oklahoma pushed the Cowboys out of that discussion and into the Cotton Bowl.
Robinson finished his career at OSU with 8,317 yards and 66 touchdowns, both ranking fourth in school history.
