Game Details Announced for Oklahoma State-West Virginia
STILLWATER -- The television networks exercised their six-day window when it came to deciding the game time for Oklahoma State and West Virginia this coming Saturday. Now that all the games for this past week are finished, we now know the details for the Pokes and Mountaineers.
Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN2. For those of you that might be traveling up to Morgantown, WV, it will be a noon kick.
Oklahoma State is fresh off a 31-13 drubbing of Kansas in Stillwater. It was the first time in school history that Oklahoma State has faced a former head coach, as Les Miles is the current head coach for KU.
It was an impressive game in many aspects for Oklahoma State.
"That was a good win for us," said head coach Mike Gundy. "I told the team that I was proud of the way they started fast. From the first kickoff they started fast, really in all three phases. I wish we would have kicked the ball a little better, field goal-wise, but other than that we were pretty good. We were very aggressive on defense. They were able to contain them. Their running back [Pooka Williams Jr.] is a good player. He breaks one in just about every game, so we did a good job of containing him. We got some pressure on the quarterback [Carter Stanley]. On third down, we had an unbelievable day on defense. They went 6-17 on third down, and over half of them were over third and 10. Overall, the guys played really well. I'll let them enjoy this one and then come back to work tomorrow and get going and get ready to play the next one."
It was also another great outing for Cowboy safety Kolby Harvell-Peel, who reeled in two more interceptions, bringing his total to five on the season. With his five picks, he currently sits fifth in the nation in total interceptions, as well as fifth for interceptions per game.
It was also a win for West Virginia on Saturday as they beat No. 24 Kansas State 24-20 to move to 4-6 on the season.
Quarterback Jarret Doege finished the game with 234 yards on 20-of-30 passing with three touchdowns.
Oklahoma State is ranked No. 25 in the AP poll and No. 22 in the College Football Playoff poll. With Oklahoma State's win over Kansas, and Kansas State losing to West Virginia, along with a few other losses such as No. 19 Texas losing to Iowa State, and No. 23 Navy losing to No. 16 Notre Dame, I would expect Oklahoma State to move up in both polls.
