The Oklahoma State Cowboys are in a rocky position right now. Not only did they start the season 2-2 with a loss in their first Big 12 game, but they don't have an incredible 2024 recruiting class coming to back them up.

It doesn't have to remain this way, though. There's plenty of season left, and the Cowboys have the chance to turn their season around against Kansas State coming off their bye week.

When it comes to recruiting, according to 247Sports, the Cowboys have the No. 60 2024 class. They've got 13 commits, all three stars. This is good for No. 10 in the Big 12, which excludes Oklahoma and Texas, who are leaving the conference next season, but includes the newcomers.

If the Cowboys want to make some noise in the new Big 12 and consistently compete for conference championships, the program will have to improve recruiting and in the portal.

Oklahoma State has the facilities needed to land good recruiting classes. They've got a history of winning and consistently making bowl games. The only real thing they need to complete a package to bring in high-talent, high-potential recruits is to improve in Name, Image and Likeness.

This can be confirmed by the active players posting on social media, asking for support in their NIL collective "Pokes With a Purpose."

One former football player, Brock Martin, posted his thoughts on the matter, too, expressing the importance of catching up in NIL to find their way to consistently being a talented, tough-to-face team.

A combination of a winning history, fun rivalries and the potential to jump to the top of the conference following all of the realignment is a good pitch, and backing that with elite facilities for development and a good NIL package could do wonders for a program that seems stuck in the middle at the moment.
