Oklahoma State Hosts Kansas State as Underdogs in Friday Night Battle
The Oklahoma State Cowboys are set up to see quite the scene in Week 6 of college football. They host the Kansas State Wildcats in a Friday night "blackout" matchup coming off their bye week. They'll have a sold-out crowd, which has been the case in each home matchup this far into the season.
The Cowboys enter this matchup as a nine-point underdog. Both players are coming off a bye week and have plenty of time to prepare for this matchup. Kansas State is 3-1 on their season and was able to tweak what has already worked. They defeated UCF 44-31 in their lone Big 12 matchup so far.
Just a year ago, the Wildcats downed the Cowboys 48-0 in a game where Duece Vaughn ran all over Oklahoma State. All time, the Cowboys have won 42 of the matchups and Kansas State has won 24 of them.
Again, the Wildcats are just nine-point favorites. Other than a close loss to Missouri, the Wildcats have looked solid this season. They're going to be able to put up a lot of points, and the Cowboys defense is going to have to ball out if they're going to come close to covering as underdogs.
The Cowboys could have seen a turning point in their Week 4 matchup against Iowa State. They lost 34-27, but they had one quarterback play the full game and saw a good game from Ollie Gordon, who got more than enough touches to be a high-impact player.
For the Cowboys to cover in this one, they're going to have to combine all of the flashes they've shown early in the season at the same time and put a full game together.
On the defensive side of things, missed tackles can't happen, and the same goes for blown coverage. Kansas State is going to be a tough cover and they're going to put up more than enough yards as is.
It's surprising to see this game have a single-digit spread, and it'll be exciting to watch whether that moves or not.
