Oklahoma State Offers Former South Alabama Defensive Back
On Tuesday, January 2nd, former South Alabama defensive back Marquise Robinson announced on social media that he has received an offer from Oklahoma State. Robinson is a name that Cowboy fans should be familiar with, as Robinson intercepted a pass during the debacle that happened in Boone Pickens Stadium on September 16th.
The 6-1, 184-pound cornerback hails from Crosby, MS, and he has two years of experience at the FBS level, spending his first season playing JUCO ball at Southwest Mississippi Community College. In the 2023 season, Robinson recorded 35 tackles, three interceptions, and three pass deflections as well as a fumble recovery. He will have one year of remaining eligibility.
Robinson has received a plethora of offers since announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal on December 28th. Some schools in the mix for the talented defensive back include Arkansas, Mississippi State, Kentucky, and James Madison.
With Redshirt Freshman D.J. McKinney entering the transfer portal, the Pokes could use another corner in the room. Marquise Robinson would be a great fit. He would be a lot more than simply adding depth to the room. Robinson has plenty of starting experience, and any time you can add a seasoned veteran into a room that is already full of long-time players, you've got a recipe for success.
Regardless of whether or not Oklahoma State lands Marquise Robinson, the corner unit should still be in a solid spot. Still, Robinson's skillset could add a lot to that room. I do not expect his recruitment to drag out too much longer, so we will see how well the staff is able to close.
