Could Oklahoma State land another lower-division gem in the transfer portal?

On Tuesday, January 2nd, transfer wide receiver Reginald Harden Jr. received an offer from Oklahoma State. Harden stands in at 6-5, 200-pounds, a build eerily similar to Leon Johnson. This comparison is compounded further by the fact that Harden comes from Benedict University, a Division Two school.

Harden started his career at Florida State, where he played as a walk-on before transferring to Benedict before the 2022 season.

In 10 games Harden caught 17 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns. His best game came against Lenoir-Rhyne, where he had six receptions for 230 yards and three touchdowns with his longest catch going for 87 yards.

Harden committed to Arkansas State on December 31st, however, with Oklahoma State throwing their hat into the ring late, he is rethinking his decision. He plans to visit Stillwater on either Wednesday or Thursday.

With Leon Johnson III being out of eligibility, Harden could be a fantastic replacement. As I said earlier, Harden has a very similar build to Johnson, and he possesses a similar skill set. When asked about his best qualities as a receiver he replied, "My ability to stretch the field vertically and create yards after the catch."

Brennan Presley, De'Zhaun Stribling and Rashod Owens are each returning to Oklahoma State, but adding depth to the position never hurts, as was seen by Johnson this past season when he had to unexpectedly burn his redshirt.

Mike Gundy and his staff have been able to identify talents like these well historically, and, given Harden Jr.'s size and frame, one would assume he would be able to make big plays for Oklahoma State, should he choose to land in Stillwater.

With a stacked offense returning next season, Harden Jr. would get an opportunity to play alongside some key talents and with an offensive line capable of giving the quarterback time to get the ball out to receivers.
