Oklahoma State to Start Alan Bowman at Quarterback Against Kansas

After starting the season with weeks of uncertainty, Alan Bowman is the guy for Oklahoma State.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys had such a peculiar start to the college football season, which began with three quarterbacks rotating the starting position and each playing a third of each game.

It was certainly unorthodox, but by the fourth week of play, Alan Bowman was decided to have been the most productive, landing the full-time starter position.

In his first matchup against Iowa State, it wasn't understood whether the full-time starter position was his. The battle certainly wasn't over at that point, or so it seemed.

After the Cowboys' performance last Friday, upsetting Kansas State 29-21, it seems the job is nobody but Bowman's. Mike Gundy was asked if Bowman would be the starter against Kansas, and his answer was simple: "Yes."

Gundy alluded to the fact that he hadn't talked to anyone about anyone other than Bowman starting, and it just seems understood that Bowman is now the guy. It makes sense as the offense is finally starting to find a groove. The offensive line is blocking, the run game is working and Bowman is able to orchestrate the offense well under center.

Through five games, Bowman has completed 72 passes on 135 attempts for 748 yards and two touchdowns. It's hard to take too much weight on these stats, as he's only played two full games as the full-time starter, but no matter what, the offense as a whole will need to convert more touchdowns in the red zone.

Overall, the offense's ability to gain offensive yardage and get in a rhythm has improved. It's hard to imagine having a quarterback consistently take the snaps under center has nothing to do with it, too. Bowman is the most experienced of the three quarterbacks available, and this will be of the team's benefit if the team can continue and win games.
