Oklahoma State Wide Receiver Enters the Transfer Portal
Another Oklahoma State football player has hit the transfer portal. Wide receiver Blaine Green hit the portal after two seasons and three years in Stillwater.
The Cowboys are having a much better time with the transfer portal this year than they did a year ago. Last year after the season, the Cowboys saw a handful of starters hit the transfer portal.
Still, those players who transferred out ended up being addition by subtraction as the culture got a much-needed culture reset. This led to a 9-4 season and a loss in the Big 12 title game.
Now, the Cowboys have had just five players transfer out, starting with Lardarius Webb Jr. as soon as the title game ended on Saturday. With the others transferring out, the Cowboys haven't lost any crucial pieces to the portal thus far, with the most notable being Gunnar Gundy, Mike Gundy's son.
Green transfers after playing with the Cowboys since 2021, a season where he was an honorable mention for Big 12 Freshman of the Year. He missed the 2022 season with injury before playing once again this past season.
"Dear OSU, I just want to say thank you to Oklahoma State University for the opportunity to play for this school and be a part of this wonderful community," Green wrote. "I am very appreciative of the many memories I have created here with my teammates and friends, as I announce I will be entering the NCAA transfer portal."
Green appeared in 20 games across his two seasons played -- totaling 416 receiving yards on 34 receptions. His best career game came this season against Iowa State, where he had six receptions for 58 receiving yards, including a 24-yard reception.
Since the portal opened, the Cowboys have offered three different players. After last season, one would assume the Cowboys coaching staff is much more equipped to handle this season, which is also a crucial time on the recruiting trail.
On top of the portal chaos, the Cowboys are in the mix for five-star cornerback Kobe Black -- younger brother of Oklahoma State cornerback Kyrie Black -- who is announcing his commitment on Dec. 13.
