Ollie Gordon and Alan Bowman were electric on Saturday as Oklahoma State took the 39-32 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks.

Mike Gundy has been saying it all along; OSU has to get the ball to Gordon more often.

On Saturday, OSU did just that. Gordon had 284 total yards on offense, including 116 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Gordon also had 174 rushing yards and one touchdown, including a 42-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. He is the first Cowboy running back to have 100 yards receiving and rushing since Gerald Hudson did it in 1989.

“When he’s hot we have got to pound him,” Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy said. “He’s getting emotionally driven, but he’s not out of control. Last year he used to get emotionally driven and he was out of control. You have to play with energy and enthusiasm, but if you play out of control you’re not helping anyone because you can’t think. He’s not doing that this year.”

With Gordon running all over the Kansas defense that set up Bowman to have a big day in the air for the Cowboys.

Bowman was efficient against the Jayhawks, going 28 for 41 for 336 yards and two touchdowns, which both came in the first quarter.

“There were some things in the middle of the field based on what they were doing,” Gundy said. “They played a lot of high safety and deep safety against us, and you noticed we couldn’t get by them. But we could rush the ball for over 200 yards, and we could dump the ball off underneath. That is what we had to do.”

The Cowboy offense as a whole put up big numbers. They racked up 554 total yards, averaging right at seven yards per play.

Bowman and Gordon will have to keep producing but especially next Saturday when OSU takes on West Virginia at 2:30 p.m. at West Virginia.
