OSU Football Offers Former Troy Standout Defensive End
Oklahoma State is looking to add a defensive lineman out of the transfer portal. The Cowboys offered Theodore Jackson Jr., who previously played for Troy.
Jackson announced his transfer from Troy on social media on Dec. 28, and he was offered by the Cowboys within a week of being in the portal, as he announced the offer on Wednesday.
Since hitting the transfer portal, the defensive lineman has received some pretty solid offers that the Cowboys are competing against. He's set to visit West Virginia, Indiana and Houston while also holding offers from Texas A&M, Jacksonville State and Boston College.
Former Oklahoma State Cornerback Set to Play For National Championship
The defensive end spent four seasons at Troy, redshirting in 2020. He played the last three seasons, though he appeared in just six games in 2021. Over the past two seasons, he's seen an uptick in snaps and production.
He finishes his season at Troy with 91 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. The 6-foot-1, 262-pound edge rusher was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team in 2022, in which he played 14 games, totaling 15.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks.
To kick off the 2023 college football season, Jackson was suspended indefinitely by the team, which lasted for three games. He was suspended for "an unspecified violation of team rules."
In Bryan Nardo's 3-3-5 defensive scheme, having defensive linemen capable of getting quarterback pressures and forcing them into quick decisions is huge. The veteran defensive end would be a good addition to his defense.
With as much talent as the Cowboys are set to return, more additions through the transfer portal will only improve Oklahoma State's chance to find their way back to the Big 12 title game.
As mentioned, though, the Cowboys have quite a bit of competition in their bid for the former Troy star.
