Texas Bowl Betting Odds Flip in Favor of Oklahoma State
Heading into bowl season, the transfer portal was running rampant. Last year, Oklahoma State was plagued with outgoing transfers. This takes these players out of the bowl games, which makes the bowl games much less predictable. This year, Texas A&M is dealing with a transfer issue in a big way.
With Jimbo Fisher being fired after another year of under succeeding, plenty of his recruits and roster are heading out and looking for a new program to take their talents to. This led to the Aggies dealing with plenty of roster uncertainty ahead of the Texas Bowl, where the Cowboys and Aggies will square off.
According to Carter Karels of 247 Sports, the Aggies are expected to have 55 scholarship players suited up for the Texas Bowl. Despite the outgoing transfers early on, Texas A&M opened as a 4.5-point favorite over Oklahoma State.
“If we go into this thing with 22 players, we are going to have 11 guys on the field at a time,” Aggies interim head coach Elijah Robinson said. “There are guys who show up every day. They deserve to play this game. So if we’ve got 11, and we can show up with 11, we will show up with 11. If we’ve got 85, we will show up with 85. Whatever we have."
With the recent news of outgoing transfers, though, the Cowboys flipped to a favorite in the game with just around 24 hours until game time. Not only do the Cowboys have plenty of their talents playing in the game, but they're returning a core of their team next season.
With a 9-4 season behind them, the Cowboys have a chance to finish off their season with double-digit wins. Now, as 3.5-point favorites, they're expected to be able to take care of business in a tight game.
