WATCH: Oklahoma State Avoids Shutout With Fourth Quarter Touchdown
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have not looked prepared for this matchup against South Alabama. It was being whispered early in the week that the Cowboys might be on upset alert against the Jaguars.
Alan Bowman started out under center, and after a somewhat promising 3-of-3 start, things went south quickly. South Alabama then capitalized on a poor Oklahoma State offensive performance and jumped to a 23-0 lead by halftime.
One good thing about the third quarter -- the Cowboys didn't give up a touchdown. The bad thing? They also didn't put up any points.
This would change on fourth and goal, however, as Jaden Nixon rushed to the left side of the end zone, walking in for the Cowboys' lone touchdown on the night.
This wouldn't mean much, as it seems too little, too late. It took a very, very long drive for the Pokes to march down the field. They had 17 short-yard plays to finally get on the board.
With only the fourth quarter remaining, this isn't sustainable. However, it's a boost to Gunnar Gundy's resume, even if it took until his fifth series to begin moving the ball.
This game will go down as an upset and things will have to look much different come next week when Big 12 play begins.
