Oklahoma State Softball Catcher Announces She Will Enter The Transfer Portal
Oklahoma State softball lost one of its key return pieces from last season on Thursday as Angelina Craig announced she is entering the transfer portal.
Craig, who is a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining, appeared in 18 games last season for the Cowgirls. She was mainly used as a pinch runner for OSU last season, recording six runs on the season.
With Craig leaving and Taylor Tuck graduating, Audrey Schneidmiller, Caroline Wang and Logan Picklesimer are the remaining catchers on Kenny Gajewski’s squad for the 2024 season.
Tuck as the main catcher for the Cowgirls was a key part last season, posting a .271 batting average with 29 hits and 14 RBIs for Oklahoma State.
Gajewski went to the portal this offseason, and he made a splash, landing Wang at the catcher position for the Cowgirls.
Wang, who was 2023 First Team All-ASUN last season for Liberty, posted a .318 batting average with 15 home runs and 51 RBIs last season.
The senior led Liberty to its first appearance in the NCAA tournament in program history, including eliminating UCLA in regional play last season.
Picklesimer is an incoming freshman for the Cowgirls, who played at Mustang High School last season.
She had an outstanding senior season, collecting a .393 batting average. Picklesimer was also named 2022 All-District 6A-1 Defensive Player of The Year.
Schneidmiller is the veteran returning to this group, and she will play a bigger role this season. She batted .270 on the season, including 10 hits and seven RBIs for the Cowgirls.
With Wang coming in from Liberty, it allows Gajewski and his staff to use different catchers throughout the season, including in conference play.
Oklahoma State opens the season in February in Northridge, CA, taking on California State University, Northridge.
