Collin Oliver Talks Injury Status And Moving Forward With Cowboys Commitment

2021 Oklahoma State linebacker commit Collin Oliver talks about his season this year with Edmond Santa Fe and moving forwward with his pledge to the Cowboys

Friday night, Oklahoma State linebacker commit Collin Oliver and Edmond Santa Fe traveled to Stillwater to take on the Pioneers for the second game of the season.

It was not the game Oliver was hoping for as he exited the game with an injury on only the second drive of the game but did manage to walk to the locker room under his own power.

As he walked to the locker room, I asked him what the injury was and he confirmed to me it was a "tweaked hamstring". After a few minutes, he did come back to the sideline and stretch but he would not come back into the game.

"It was prolonged from about a week ago, I just re-tweaked it, it's nothing serious.", Oliver said postgame.

Oliver also added that the reason he did come back in was "just being smart about it."

"We start districts in week four so just being smart about that and realizing we have more to go."

Edmond Santa Fe would lose this matchup against Stillwater but Oliver still believes in this team and thinks they will bounce back.

"We're a great team, this loss really means nothing to us. We're just looking to build off of this and find the things we can improve on.", said Oliver.

As far as Oliver's commitment and the 2021 class that Oklahoma State is putting together, he had some great things to say.

"I feel real great, we got a whole bunch of in state guys, whole bunch of great in state I should say as well as a bunch of out of state guys. It's a real great team, a real great squad we're building together."

I asked Oliver why he thought this class was so good and what separates it from recruiting classes for Oklahoma State in recent years.

"There's a bunch of Okies.", Oliver started. "Obviously Oklahoma State recruits well in state but they've never recruited this well in state. I really feel like we're the best Oklahoma team in terms of going to Oklahoma State in the past couple of years."

Collin is also very confident in the team the Cowboys will be putting on the field this year. "I feel like we're gonna be great. With Trace and Calvin back and with the senior back and guys like Chuba, it's gonna be a real great squad. Big 12 Champions baby on the way."
