Oklahoma State Soccer in Good Form, Hot Start to Big 12 Play
The Oklahoma State Cowgirls have gotten off to a quick start to their soccer season, and they're coming up on a big set of two games. So far on the season, the Cowgirls are 10-2 (3-0 in Big 12). Their next matchup comes on Thursday against No. 19 UCF, which is 7-2-0 (3-0) on the season.
In Stillwater, the matchup against UCF will be incredibly telling for Oklahoma State. The two teams have matched up twice, and UCF has won both matches, those coming in 2015 and 2016.
The Cowgirls are riding a four-game win streak into this matchup. They're tied with UCF and Texas Tech in the Big 12, as all three teams have three wins to zero losses. A win for Oklahoma State would boost them ahead of UCF, and they then take on TCU within the week, which could help them potentially claim the top spot in the conference.
Averaging nearly three goals per game, the Cowgirls allow just half a goal per game. They're not only winning plenty, but they're dominating in wins. On the season, the Cowgirls have 34 goals to their opponents' six. The 34 goals rank No. 4 nationally, showing just how good Oklahoma State's attack has really been.
Logan Heausler and Hannah Chance are leading the team with seven goals apiece, though Chance has appeared in two fewer games.
Heausler has scored three of her goals in conference play, converting on just eight shots. Senior wingback Alex Morris has a team-leading six assists on the season, too.
Overall, the veteran Cowgirls are in good form, taking on their opponents in dominating fashion, and their matchup against UCF will be incredibly telling as to where they're at as a team.
Both on the attack and defense, the Cowgirls have been impressive. If they take down UCF, they can continue to ride their hot streak through a deep win streak.
