Cowboys Land Commitment From Elite Oklahoma Defensive Lineman
Boom! The Cowboys have done it!
The Oklahoma State staff has closed on one of the best prospects in the state of Oklahoma and arguably the best defensive lineman in the state.
2021 Thomas-Fay-Custer High School product Aden Kelley has committed to Oklahoma State, he announced via Twitter.
Kelley chose the Cowboys over TCU in his final decision. He holds 20 total offers, but staying in state to play for Mike Gundy seems to have outweighed all other options. Kelley later spoke to our Robert Allen about his commitment.
Kelley plays both offensive and defensive line for Fay-Custer but will be sticking to defense in Stillwater. He has shown the ability to play both at nose/tackle and also on the end. At 6’3 and 275 pounds, he moves very well as has a great initial burst on the snap.
If Oklahoma State decides to beef him up some more and add some muscle mass,
Kelley could potentially get up around 290-300 pounds and be a monster in the middle of the line.
Oklahoma State was in on Kelley very early in his recruiting process. In fact it was directly after his Cowboy offer that he quickly began to pick up more, totaling 17 in the following 2 months.
Aden Kelley is ranked as both a 3 and 4 star prospect by varying rankings publications but I have a feeling they haven't watched much of him. When you turn on the tape, he is undoubtedly 4 star worthy and is the best interior lineman in the state of Oklahoma as well as one of the best in the nation.
For several months, Kelley has been on weekly calls with Mike Gundy and those two have developed a great relationship with each other.
Kelley is the 12th commitment for the Cowboys in the 2021 class, the 6th on the defensive side of the ball but the first true defensive lineman in the class.
I spoke with Kelley a few weeks ago following Collin Oliver's commitment, which he said stood out to him and that it was “huge” for in-state recruiting. The Cowboys currently have two linebackers, two defensive backs, and one running back committed for 2021.Â
Aden Kelley’s pledge is a massive one, not only in terms of a positional need, but also knowing you just reeled in one of the best defensive lineman in the country.Â
