Oklahoma State Offers Former Arkansas Offensive Lineman in Transfer Portal
On Wednesday, December 6th, Oklahoma State offered Devon Manuel, an offensive line transfer out of Arkansas. This will help bolster depth on the offensive line, especially with the return of starting offensive linemen Cole Birmingham and Joe Michalski.
The Pokes will have to battle schools like Florida and Kentucky for his commitment. It won't be easy trying to recruit against those schools, but with the growing NIL collective and a firm standing near the top of the new Big 12, the Pokes have a shot to get a special player.
Manuel is a mammoth of a man, standing at 6-foot-9, 310 pounds. You can't teach size, and Manuel has plenty of it. Because of this, he has tremendous upside, and if he is developed properly he could end up as an excellent starter at tackle. As a redshirt sophomore, Manuel played 417 snaps this season in the SEC and only allowed four sacks. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Coming out of high school, Manuel was a three-star prospect. He was given a prospect grade of 86 by 247 Sports and was the 79th-rated offensive tackle in the class of 2021. He attended Beau Chene High School in Arnaudville, Louisiana. He chose the Razorbacks over schools like Michigan State, Iowa State, and Houston.
I like what Manuel brings to the table as a pass protector, and if the Cowboys can land him, he could be a bookend tackle to protect either Garret Rangel or Zane Flores. With his size, he could be a dominant force in the run game as well. If Oklahoma State can keep improving along the offensive line, Ollie Gordon could have an even bigger year next year than he did this year.
