OSU Softball: Lexi Kilfoyl Shines As OSU Takes The Series Over Texas
Lexi Kilfoyl put Oklahoma State on her back on Saturday against Texas.
The senior shut out the Longhorns for the second time in the series as OSU took the 3-0 victory over Texas at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 29-6, 9-3 in the conference on the season, while the Longhorns fell to 29-5, 9-3 in the conference on the season.
It was a record attendance on Saturday as 1,757 saw Kilfoyl tame Texas’ offense. She gave up zero runs on two hits, one walk and four strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Texas pitchers were consistent as well, but Caroline Wang was the only blemish the Longhorns had, and it was a big one for Oklahoma State.
Wang did the damage in the first inning, launching a three-run shot over the wall, giving the Cowgirls the early lead.
That three-run home run turned out to be the only hit for OSU in the contest as Estelle Czech and Mac Morgan pitched well for Texas.
Czech got the start, and she held OSU at bay after the home run, giving up three runs on one hit in 2 1/3 innings pitched.
Morgan would come in the second inning, and she would silence OSU, giving up zero runs on zero hits with five strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings of work.
Wang was the lone hit with her three-run shot, securing the victory and the series for Oklahoma State.
The Cowgirls will hit the road this week, taking on North Texas on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at North Texas. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.
