Both teams battled on Friday, but it was Texas prevailing over Oklahoma State.

Citlaly Gutierrez caused OSU’s offense some problems all night as the Longhorns took the 2-1 victory over OSU at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater.

Texas improves to 29-4 on the season, while OSU falls to 28-6 on the season.

After putting up five runs on 9 hits on Thursday, the Cowgirls managed only one run on five hits on Friday against the Longhorns.

Gutierrez pitched a gem against OSU, giving up one run on five hits, one walk and six strikeouts in a complete-game performance.

The Cowgirls pitching staff kept them in it as well. Kyra Aycock got the start, and she held Texas at bay, giving up one run on zero hits, four walks and one strikeout in two innings of work.

Ivy Rosenberry came in the third inning, and she was her usual self, giving up only one run on eight hits, one walk and one strikeout in five innings pitched.

Walks were the difference maker, as OSU had five walks, compared to Gutierrez having only one walk against the Cowgirls.

OSU once again got out in front in the first inning as Claire Timm drove in Tallen Edwards off a sacrifice fly, making it 1-0 OSU.

Texas would get it back in the third as Mia Scott would get Bella Dayton home on the RBI groundout, tying the game at 1-1.

After both teams went silent on offense the next two innings, Texas would come through in the sixth.

Katie Stewart and Ashton Maloney both hit singles to start the inning for the Longhorns. Dayton would ground out, but she would advance the runners, putting them at second and third with only one out for Kayden Henry.

Henry would deliver, hitting a one-out single up the middle, scoring Stewart and putting Texas up 2-1 late in the contest.

Gutierrez would shut down OSU in the seventh, securing the victory.

OSU will look to take the series against Texas on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.
