OSU Softball Notebook: Weekend Review (4/8)

The Cowgirls picked up another series win, and they climbed up the conference rankings.

Oklahoma State did its job this weekend. 

The Cowgirls swept Houston this past weekend, improving to 12-3 in the conference on the season and moving to No. 2 in the conference standings. 

Friday – 3-1 Win Over Houston 

OSU had three solo shots on the night as the Cowgirls took the series opener over the Houston Cougars. 

Lexi Kilfoyl got the start in the circle, and she delivered, giving up only one run on three hits, one walk and five strikeouts in seven innings of work. 

Caroline Wang got things going in the second inning, hitting a bomb over the wall in center field and putting OSU up 1-0.

Jilyen Poullard added to the lead in the fifth, hitting a solo shot and increasing the Oklahoma State lead to 2-0.

After Houston cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fifth, Rosie Davis hit the dagger in the sixth, hitting a solo home run and securing the victory for Oklahoma State. 

Saturday – 11-0 Win Over Houston (F/5)

Oklahoma State collected the series on Saturday with its run-rule victory over the Cougars.

Ivy Rosenberry got the start in the circle, and she was her usual self, giving up zero runs on two hits, one walk and four strikeouts in five innings pitched.  

Lexi McDonald was the star of the show on Saturday against Houston, going 3 for 3 with two home runs and five RBIs in the contest. 

Wang, Micaela Wark and Poullard homered in the contest as well, and the Cowgirls blew past the Cougars and secured the series. 

Sunday – 10-2 Win Over Houston (F/6)

Oklahoma State secured the sweep on Sunday as it posted another run-rule victory over Houston. 

Kilfoyl got the start, and she was consistent once again, giving up one run on two hits, one walk and three strikeouts in four innings pitched. 

Rosenberry came for her in the fifth, and she tamed the Cougars as well, giving up one run on one hit and two strikeouts in two innings of work. 

The Cowgirls scored all 10 runs in the final four innings, including four runs in the sixth inning to take home the victory. 

Wang hit a two-run home run in the contest while notching seven RBIs in the contest. Her homer on Sunday was the third-straight game she collected a home run. 

OSU heads back home for a mid-week contest, taking on Tulsa on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater.
