Mike Bianco Reveals Change to Rebels Weekend Pitching Rotation

The Ole Miss Rebels will trot out their pitchers in a different order this weekend against Morehead State.

The Ole Miss Rebels have won six of their last seven games on the diamond, and they play host to the Memphis Tigers on Tuesday night. After that, however, attention shifts to the weekend.

When the Morehead State Eagles come to Oxford beginning on Friday, Ole Miss will have a new-look pitching rotation, head coach Mike Bianco revealed on Monday on the statewide radio program SportsTalk Mississippi. You can find his updated pitching plans below.

Friday: LHP Gunnar Dennis

Saturday: LHP Liam Doyle

Sunday: RHP Grayson Saunier

The change presumably moves RHP JT Quinn (who has been dealing with a duo of blisters on his throwing hand) to the bullpen. Quinn originally held the Friday role before shifting to Saturday last weekend against Iowa.

Although the Rebels won that Saturday meeting with the Hawkeyes 12-5, Quinn was far from sharp, working 2.2 innings of six-hit, five-run ball, although only one of those runs was earned.

Doyle came to Ole Miss by way of a transfer from Coastal Carolina, and he has worked five innings total this season, allowing just two total runs, both of which came in his debut in Hawaii.

Combined, he has walked only two men and struck out nine, and his season ERA now sits at 3.60.

The Rebels will open the weekend series against Morehead State on Friday night in a 6:30 p.m. CT first pitch. Doyle is then scheduled to take the mound at 4 p.m. on Saturday, and the series will conclude with a 1:30 p.m. start time on Sunday.

All three games of the series will be televised on SEC Network+.
