MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels opened their time in the Cambria College Classic with a win over the No. 13 Maryland Terrapins by a final score of 5-1 on Friday at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Rebels got on the board first via a solo home run from Kemp Alderman in the top of the second inning. Maryland would respond with a run of its own in the bottom of the fourth, but center fielder Ethan Groff lifted a two-run shot in the top of the fifth and a two-RBI single in the ninth to secure the win for Ole Miss.

Rebels shortstop Jacob Gonzalez also continued his hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-5 on Friday and pushing his batting average to .432 on the year.

On the mound, Jack Dougherty picked up his first win of the year in the starter's role, throwing six complete innings of three-hit, one-run ball. Dougherty struck out seven and walked three batters, and he was relieved by Matt Parenteau and Mason Nichols who was credited with the save.

With the win, Ole Miss improves to 8-2 on the year, and it will face the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday in Minneapolis. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network+.
