Kemp Alderman Closes Out Alcorn State as Ole Miss Cruises to Midweek Win
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels cruised to a 13-4 win over the Alcorn State Braves on Wednesday night, returning to the win column for the first time since last Friday.
The Rebels had scored eight runs before Alcorn scratched across three of its own in the top of the fifth, and the result of the game was never in jeopardy as Ole Miss used four arms on the hill, including outfielder and power hitter Kemp Alderman who closed the game out.
Alderman threw the final inning of play on Wednesday night, striking out the side and walking one after driving home three RBIs for Ole Miss in the win. He was second on the team in that category behind Jacob Gonzalez with four, and the Rebels' Twitter account highlighted his feats towards the end of the game.
Jordan Vera got the start and earned the win for Ole Miss on the mound, working five innings of three-run ball in the process. With the win, Ole Miss improves to 19-14 on the year, and it will carry that mark into its next weekend series in Starkville against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
That set begins on Friday at 6 p.m. CT, and it can be viewed on SEC Network+ as can game three. The second game of the series can be seen on SEC Network.
