OXFORD, Miss. — Following the Ole Miss Rebels’ loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, head coach Mike Bianco gave an update on two injured arms on his pitching staff.

Staff ace Hunter Elliott has not thrown since opening weekend against the Delaware Blue Hens, and bullpen arm Riley Maddox has not thrown at all this season. Bianco, however, indicated that both players have made positive progress according to David Eckert of The Clarion Ledger.

"If [Elliott] continues to hit all his marks and feel good, I would think he would pitch on that LSU weekend [April 21-23] in some capacity," Bianco said.

The progress seen by Maddox has also been moving in the right direction this season.

"Usually, when they get to this point, it's not about pain," Bianco said. "It's about rhythm and pitching. It's more: Can they pitch? And he has. He's thrown all his pitches, fastball, slider, changeup. This week, he was able to throw ‒ in the protocol ‒ his breaking ball at full speed. He's looked terrific. Looks like he's on his way back."

The Rebels are in need of some help on the mound, having not won a series in conference play and holding a 2-10 record within the SEC after Saturday.
