Ole Miss Blasted in Finale vs. Hawaii, Splits Opening Series

The Ole Miss Rebels were blown out in their series finale against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on Sunday evening.

The Ole Miss Rebels had a chance to secure an opening series win on Sunday, but they failed to do so in a big way.

The Rebels committed six errors and walked in three runs en route to a 13-4 loss to the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on Sunday evening. Ole Miss claimed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Hawaii struck for two runs in the bottom half, and it never looked back on the way to the blowout win in the opening series finale.

Ole Miss utilized seven pitchers in the loss, beginning with Riley Maddox who made his first collegiate start. Maddox went two complete innings on the hill and allowed five runs (three earned) and was credited with the loss.

At the plate, four Rebels were responsible for one RBI apiece (Luke Hill, Ethan Lege, Bo Gatlin and Campbell Smithwick), but that was barely able to put a dent in Hawaii's advantage throughout the game. Ole Miss was able to narrow the gap to a 9-4 score in the top of the fourth inning, but another run from the Rainbow Warriors in the bottom half and three runs in the eighth sealed the loss.

The Rebels have now started the season with a mark of 2-2 after winning the first two games of the series this weekend. They will host the Arkansas State Red Wolves for their home opener on Wednesday before playing host to High Point Panthers over the weekend.

First pitch on Wednesday at Swayze Field is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on SEC Network+.
