Ole Miss Rides Hit Parade to Dominating Win Over Morehead State
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels rode a 13-hit performance to a 10-3 win over the Morehead State Eagles on Friday night, seeing a hit from every member of the starting lineup in the process.
Ole Miss (10-5) drew first blood on Friday with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a laser home run from Ethan Lege, but Morehead State would tie the game in the second inning as an RBI single and a throwing error brought home a run apiece.
The Rebels claimed the lead for the rest of the night, however, after putting up a four-spot in the bottom half of that frame, seeing RBIs from Campbell Smithwick, Ethan Groff and Andrew Fischer at the plate.
Lege pushed across another run in the sixth inning to claim the team lead in RBIs for the night, and he was joined with multiple in that category by Fischer and Treyson Hughes. Hughes' two RBIs came on a double in the bottom of the fourth inning, the third RBI double of the game for Ole Miss after one from Will Furniss came the inning prior.
On the mound, LHP Gunnar Dennis drew the start and was credited with the win after five innings of work, allowing five hits and three runs (one earned). He also walked one batter and struck out five.
