Mike Bianco Reveals Rebels' 2024 Opening Day Lineup

Head coach Mike Bianco revealed the Ole Miss Rebels' 2024 Opening Day lineup on Friday.
In this story:

Baseball season is right around the corner, and beer showers will soon return to the confines of Swayze Field in Oxford, Mississippi.

With that, however, comes actual baseball, and that was the topic of discussion at the Ole Miss Rebels' baseball media day on Friday, specifically the projected starting lineup for Opening Day.

Head coach Mike Bianco revealed his plans for his starting nine at first pitch next Friday when Ole Miss travels to open the series against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in Honolulu. Multiple newcomers are set to see their first action as Rebels this season, and you can view Bianco's current projections below.

Ethan Groff 4

Catcher -- Campbell Smithwick (Freshman)

Third Base -- Andrew Fischer (Sophomore, Duke transfer)

Shortstop -- Luke Hill (Sophomore, Arizona State transfer)

Second Base -- Reagan Burford (Senior)

First Base -- Jackson Ross (Senior, Florida Atlantic transfer)

Left Field -- TBD

Center Field -- Ethan Groff (Senior)

Right Field -- Treyson Hughes (Junior, Mercer transfer)

The designated hitter for Opening Day is still undecided, as of Friday, but Bianco also revealed his projected starting rotation for the opening series at Hawaii, one that will include four games over the course of three days.

How Will Ole Miss Replace LHP Rivas in 2024?

Friday -- RHP JT Quinn (Sophomore)

Saturday (G1) -- LHP Gunnar Dennis (Junior, Meridian CC transfer)

Saturday (G2) -- RHP Grayson Saunier (Sophomore)

Sunday -- RHP Riley Maddox (Junior)

This pitching rotation was recently impacted by the loss of LHP Xavier Rivas to a UCL tear, and he will miss the entirety of the 2024 season.

First pitch next Friday between Ole Miss and Hawaii is slated for 10:35 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on Spectrum Sports.
