Josh Mallitz Named to NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List
Ole Miss Rebels RHP Josh Mallitz was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Stopper of the Year Watch List on Wednesday, joining some of the best relief pitchers in the country in the process.
Mallitz missed the entirety of the 2023 season due to an injury, but he is expected to return to the field of play in 2024 and help the Rebels right the ship from a disappointing campaign that failed to end in the postseason.
Prior to his injury, the righty was a key component of the team's national championship run in 2022, posting a 1.45 ERA in 31 innings of work. He also held opponents to a .171 batting average while putting up 48 strikeouts.

He made five appearances during the team's postseason run in 2022, allowing just one run with 18 strikeouts over 10.2 innings. In game one of the College World Series Finals, Mallitz worked two complete innings, striking out four Oklahoma Sooners in the process.
The Rebels will begin their 2024 season on Friday when they face the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in Honolulu. First pitch is slated for 10:35 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on ESPN+.
