Ole Miss Captures Win in Game 1 of Doubleheader vs. Hawaii
The Ole Miss Rebels snagged a win in Game 2 of its weekend series against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and the first of a doubleheader on Saturday, coming away with a 5-2 win in seven innings.
The Rebels trotted out Gunnar Dennis to start on the hill on Saturday, seeing him throw four complete innings of two-run ball. Dennis was credited with the win, and he gave way to Wes Mendes who registered the save after three innings on the mound.
Ole Miss struck first on the afternoon on a three-run home run from Bo Gatlin in the top of the second inning. Hawaii responded with a run of its own in the bottom half and another run in the third, but a solo shot from Andrew Fischer (third inning) and RBI groundout from Judd Utermark (fourth inning) pushed the score to its final.
