OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rebels second baseman Peyton Chatagnier announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Friday, capping off a four-year career in Oxford and now searching for a new baseball program.

Chatagnier posted his announcement to Twitter on Friday afternoon, thanking those at Ole Miss who helped him during his stay on campus.

"I truly believe that with adversity comes faith, and faith means trusting in a plan that's greater than you," Chatagnier said in his post. "This decision has not been easy and has required a lot of thought and prayers, but with that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal for my last year of eligibility. I am excited for what's to come and to see what is written in my next chapter.

"Rebel Nation, you are special, and Oxford, you will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you, Ole Miss."

Chatagnier has had an up-and-down career at Ole Miss at the plate, but he played a vital role in the Rebels' postseason run that led to a national championship in the 2022 season despite batting just .248. He was a big factor in Ole Miss' wins in the Coral Gables Regional in 2022, including driving home six runs against the Arizona Wildcats in that matchup.

At Ole Miss, he finished with a .968 career fielding percentage at second base.
