'Best Team Money Can Buy!' Vandy Coach Jerry Stackhouse Seems to Criticize Chris Beard, Ole Miss
The Ole Miss Rebels picked up a double-digit win over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday at the SJB Pavilion in Oxford, but the postgame conversation quickly shifted to finances in the visiting locker room.
After the game, Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse seemed to criticize Ole Miss and its head coach in Chris Beard, calling the Rebels "the best team money can buy."
"Best team money can buy," Stackhouse said on his postgame radio show. "That's where they are, and that's how they approached it. They got it done. You go into the portal and add juniors and seniors. We don't add juniors and seniors at Vanderbilt. They just don't transfer to us."
That seems like an odd criticism in the current landscape of NIL and the transfer portal, right? Ole Miss is certainly not the only school in the country that has bolstered its NIL initiatives and collective. Not by a long shot.

Of course, this is very possibly just frustration on Stackhouse's part. Vanderbilt's loss on Saturday dropped the 'Dores to 5-11 overall on the season and 0-3 in the SEC, and it gave Ole Miss its second conference win of the season while remaining undefeated at home.
The audio of Stackhouse's comments released on Saturday may seem to frame it as more of a criticism of his own NIL situation as opposed to that of Ole Miss.
The Rebels will take the floor again on Wednesday with a road trip to Baton Rouge to face the LSU Tigers. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
