Ole Miss Rebels forward Myles Burns was selected to the Dallas Mavericks summer league roster this week with a chance to continue his basketball career at the next level.

Prior to the NBA Draft, Burns had a workout with the Portland Trail Blazers. After going undrafted, he found himself with the opportunity to join the Mavericks for the summer of 2023. The 6-6, 210 pound forward out of Houston, Texas, made his debut with the Rebels last season, starting in 30 of the 33 games played.

Despite the team's struggles last season, which led to the head coach Kermit Davis' firing, Burns was the most promising defensive player on the roster, recording 80 steals, the second-most recorded in school history and most by a senior ever. His nine steals in the 2023 SEC tournament were the most by any player in a two-game stretch since 1992.

Prior to his time with the Rebels, Burns spent four years with Loyola New Orleans, starting in 111 of 120 games. While with the Wolfpack, Burns was second in school history for points (1,852), second in rebounds (1,069), and first in steals (358). He ended his career as a four-time SSAC Defensive player of the year and four-time First-Team All SSAC selection.

After reaching the 2,000-point and 400-steal marker during his collegiate career, Burns looks to bring his versatility to a brighter stage.

He is set to head to Las Vegas next month to compete in the summer league that comprises the best young talent around. The Mavericks' first game will be held on July 8 at 2:30 p.m. CT against the Oklahoma City Thunder on ESPN2.
