Ole Miss MBB in the Running For Talented Transfer Guard El Ellis
OXFORD, Miss. -- Since the Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball team hired Chris Beard in March, the new coach has, for the most part, been successful at retaining veteran talent.
Now that Beard has kept the team together as best he can, it is time to attack the NCAA Transfer Portal to find the pieces necessary to complete his rebuild.
The OM Spirit reported on Friday that Ole Miss has officially joined the long list of potential suitors for Louisville Cardinals transfer guard El Ellis. Ellis has reportedly heard from 14 programs since entering his name in the portal on Thursday.
Ole Miss is in the running for Ellis' talents along with the Arkansas Razorbacks, Pittsburgh Panthers, NC State Wolfpack, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Creighton Bluejays, Oregon Ducks, Florida Gators, Clemson Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Florida State Seminoles, Seton Hall Pirates, Ohio State Buckeyes, and UCF Knights.
Ellis has become one of the most sought-after prospects in the transfer portal after the combo guard led the Cardinals in scoring and assists per game this season with 17.7 and 4.4, respectively.
While the senior has a plethora of suitors in the portal, he is still keeping all options on the table. Ellis previously declared for the 2023 NBA Draft in February but has college eligibility if he chooses to return.
