'Not Leaving Without a Win!' Ole Miss Women Snag Comeback Overtime Win Over Florida
The Ole Miss Rebels overcame a 16-point deficit on Thursday night to take down the Florida Gators 77-67 in overtime in Gainesville.
Ole Miss stormed back late and was able to tie the game with a half second remaining on a score from Marquesha Davis to send the game past regulation, and in the overtime period, the Rebels outscored the Gators 13-3 to secure the much-needed win.
Now with back-to-back losses behind them, head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin's team has returned to the win column. She was vocally displeased with her team's performance a week prior in a 72-53 loss to Texas A&M, but her tune was different on Thursday.
"Incredibly proud," McPhee-McCuin said. "I know people question my coaching style sometimes, but I don't say anything that I haven't earned the right to say. So, when I called my team out, no one felt any type of way. If anything, they agreed. They know that they're better than what they showed last game."
Ole Miss was led in scoring on the night by Madison Scott with 27, and she was joined in double digits by Marquesha Davis (22) and Kennedy Todd-Willliams (18). As a team, the Rebels shot 39.1 percent from the floor, narrowly-exceeding Florida's mark of 39 percent.

"Just really proud of the team and how they fought back," McPhee-McCuin said." Once we got into overtime, I didn't say a word. They were talking in those huddles and saying, 'We're not leaving here without a win.'"
Ole Miss will now prepare for a home rematch against the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Sunday at the SJB Pavilion. The last meeting between the two teams came in Starkville, a game the Rebels dropped 69-57 on Jan. 14.
Tip-off against State is set for 3 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on SEC Network+.
