Rebels Basketball Drops Heartbreaking Game to South Carolina
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels narrowly missed their second-straight conference win on Saturday afternoon, falling to the South Carolina Gamecocks 64-61 at the SJB Pavilion.
The Rebels held a 38-35 advantage at halftime, but they let that lead slip away down the stretch. Tye Fagan led Ole Miss in scoring with 17 points followed by Robert Allen with 10. Those were the only two Rebels to hit double digits on Saturday.
As a team, Ole Miss shot 37 percent from the field and 26 percent from three compared to South Carolina's percentages of 42 and 36, respectively.
With the loss, Ole Miss falls to 10-15 overall on the year and 2-10 in conference play. The Rebels will next take the court on Wednesday when they travel to face the Florida Gators before returning home in a week to host the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Tip-off between the Rebels and Gators is set for 5:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be broadcast on SEC Network.
