Column: Is Ole Miss The Most Entertaining Program in College Football?
Ever since Lane Kiffin landed in Oxford, Mississippi, in 2020, the Ole Miss Rebels have undoubtedly become one of the most entertaining programs in college sports. In a world where coaches are easily scrutinized, personally handling a Twitter account is out of the ordinary…unless your name is Lane Kiffin.
His Twitter personality has taken the college football social media realm by storm with his congenial character, and this is against the watchful eyes of sports information directors, who might not find his tweets amusing. Kiffin’s presence on social platforms is abundant, as he possesses 633,200 Twitter followers and just over 71,000 on Instagram.
He is known for his trolling tweets, showing consistent ability to voice his opinion without filter and animated persona.
This Saturday, the extracurriculars on the Ole Miss sidelines were...let's just say interesting...drawing some media attention. And this time, it wasn’t conducted by Coach Kiffin or the players.
During the game, Kiffin’s son, Knox, and his dog Juice, undeniably stole the show. It appears now that Juice has his own job with the Ole Miss team, running onto the field to pick up the tee after kicks. Furthermore, Knox led the sideline festivities when the Ole Miss side became covered in smoke from a fire extinguisher that he was blowing. This led to a sideline dance party, just minutes before Ulysses Bentley ran it in for a touchdown.
If the saying, "Ole Miss has never lost a party," isn't obvious, it is now. What Kiffin has done with the Ole Miss football program and the city of Oxford has been nothing shy of unorthodox in such a vibrant and unique way.
A winner? Yes. An aggressive recruiter? Yes. A social media troll? Most definitely. But at the end of the day, there is nothing like a Lane Kiffin party.
