ESPN Analyst Predicts Rough Season For Ole Miss Rebels in 2023

Are the Ole Miss Rebels heading for trouble in 2023?
In this story:

OXFORD, Miss. -- After finishing their 2022 campaign with a four-game losing streak, the Ole Miss Rebels are looking to right the ship in 2023 with Week 1 versus the Mercer Bears around the corner.

Unfortunately for Lane Kiffin's squad, Ole Miss has been dealt a difficult slate of regular season games in 2023.

The Rebels have to take on the Georiga Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Auburn Tigers on the road, while also welcoming the LSU Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks in back-to-back home games early in the season. Ole Miss also has to travel to New Orleans in Week 2 to battle the Tulane Greenwave

ESPN analyst Rece Davis recently commented on the Rebels' 2023 schedule and believes they will have a tough time overcoming their projected win total of 7.5.

“Ole Miss win total at 7.5, they’re also at Georgia," Davis said. "I like Ole Miss. I’m gonna go under by a half, even though I think they could be pretty good.

"They have a pretty tricky schedule, starting with a trip to Tulane, then to Alabama, they do have to go to Auburn, LSU at home. They have the misfortune of drawing Georgia on the other side in Athens, which is a loss. “I think they’re going to be pretty good and could still wind up 7-5."

During the offseason, Kiffin bolstered his roster via the NCAA Transfer Portal and Ole Miss hired Pete Golding to take over as defensive coordinator. The Rebels have stocked up for the most difficult schedule in the SEC, but will it be enough to get over their 7.5 win total?
