Fully-Healthy Jalen Knox Itching to Make Impact in Ole Miss Wideout Room
OXFORD, Miss. -- When Jalen Knox transferred from the Missouri Tigers to the Ole Miss Rebels, he had a large number of road blocks to overcome.
The Rebels wide receiver dealt with injury and credit hour issues following his transfer, and now in spring camp, he is back to "100 percent" and ready to help fill some voids in his position group.
With the departure of Jonathan Mingo and Malik Heath to the NFL, the opportunities are now there for new playmakers.
"It's been fun," Knox said in media availability on Thursday. "Going out there to make plays again, top-notch feeling.
"I feel like I never got the chance to just focus on football. I was trying to get all my hours back, and between that and having surgery on my foot, my body just wasn't right."
Now with some new faces in the room, Knox is hitting the field each day with a chance to prove himself, although he is not alone in that pursuit. Ole Miss has also added some fresh faces out of the transfer portal this offseason, namely Tre Harris and Chris Marshall.
"I feel like the table was open for anyone to go and make plays," Knox said, "and every opportunity I get, I'm making the most of it.
"Tre Harris brings in leadership. Comes in and works hard every day. Chris Marshall can definitely go make plays, so that's a big addition."
What sets Knox apart in his mind from other receivers in the country? Physical skill, and that's what he hopes to bring to the field not just this spring, but in the fall as well.
"I'm an athlete," Knox said. "I'm just a playmaker. Just find a way to get the ball in my hands, and I can make something happen at any given time."
