Jonathan Mingo to The Star? Cowboys Pick Ole Miss WR in Mel Kiper Jr. NFL Mock Draft

According to NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. Jonathan Mingo may be the second Rebel to be picked by the Dallas Cowboys in as many seasons.
In this story:

In the 2022 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Ole Miss Rebels defensive end Sam Williams in the second round.

And just one year later, the Cowboys could be bringing another Rebel alum to the Star in Frisco.

According to NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. at least, who has the Cowboys selecting Ole Miss wide receiver Jonathan Mingo with the No. 58 overall pick in the second round later this month.

58. Dallas Cowboys

Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss

I thought about a replacement for

Ezekiel Elliott

here, but Mingo would make an impact on the

Dallas depth chart

. The 6-2, 220-pound receiver has a great mix of size and speed. He averaged 16.9 yards per reception last season and he was mostly running short routes. He can break tackles once he gets the ball. He has experience playing both outside and in the slot. This makes two pass-catchers for the Cowboys, and you know

Dak Prescott

would be thrilled.

Mingo, who turned heads during the NFL Scouting Combine and at Ole Miss Pro Day, would certainly fill a need for Dallas, who has been searching for more pass catchers for Dak Prescott this offseason.

They have accomplished that in one way by adding Brandin Cooks from Houston.

However, adding a true No. 4 receiver to the fold, especially one with Mingo's measurables and talent, seems like it would be a no-brainer for a team that is itching to break through in the postseason.
