LOOK: Ole Miss Rebels Unofficial Mascot Juice Kiffin Trolls Mario Cristobal After Late-Game Coaching Decision
The Ole Miss Rebels and Miami Hurricanes have only met three times on the gridiron, and while the Rebels hold a 2-1 advantage in the series, they gained a social media win over Miami last weekend.
Ole Miss took care of business against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday night, and after you win, you have a little room to poke fun at other programs, even if you haven't played them since 1951.
Miami took on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday, and it led the ACC foe 20-17 with an opportunity to kneel out the clock and seal a win. Instead, the Hurricanes opted for a handoff to Donald Chaney Jr. who subsequently fumbled and set up a game-winning touchdown for the Jackets with one second remaining.
Enter Juice Kiffin, Lane Kiffin's pet and unofficial mascot of the Ole Miss program who seems to have taken on his "dad's" social media prowess.
"That’s my dad fist-pumping cause he took a knee at the end! Not every [coach] does that," the account wrote.
Miami head coach Mario Cristobal discussed the coaching blunder following the game.
"Not going to make an excuse for it, say we should've done this or that," Cristobal said, per ESPN. "That's it. We should've done it. Sometimes you get carried away with just, finish the game and run it. I should've stepped in and said, 'Hey, just take a knee.'"
The Rebels and Hurricanes first met on the field of play in 1936. You can see the all-time matchups between the two schools below.
1936: Ole Miss 14, Miami 0
1940: Ole Miss 21, Miami 7
1951: Miami 20, Ole Miss 7
Maybe Juice Kiffin was getting revenge for Ole Miss' latest loss to the Hurricanes...way back in 1951. Regardless, as the Rebels head into their bye week, they sit with a 5-1 record and still have hopes to challenge for the SEC West title. Miami's loss to Georgia Tech (a team that Ole Miss took down in Week 3 of the season) was its first loss of the season, and it now has an 0-1 mark in ACC play.
