Morning Report: Saturday Marked a Big Recruiting Weekend for Ole Miss Rebels

Two recruits pledged to Lane Kiffin and the Rebels on Saturday.

Welcome to the Morning Report, a piece from The Grove Report that highlights the news from the day surrounding the Ole Miss Rebels.

Today is June 18, 2023, and here's the news you need to know out of Oxford.

1. Four-star quarterback recruit Austin Simmons flipped from Florida to Ole Miss on Saturday and reclassified to the 2023 class.

Simmons officially flipped his commitment this weekend, and he will join the already-stacked Rebels quarterback room this summer. Lane Kiffin also showed plenty of enthusiasm for the decision on Twitter.

2. The second commitment of the day came from Cameron Clark, a 2024 ATH out of Tennessee.

Clark held numerous Power Five offers, including one from Mississippi State, but he also chose the Rebels on Saturday. You can read more here.

3. Should Ole Miss and Tulane play annually in football? We gave an opinion on the topic on Saturday morning.

Ole Miss fans have a lot of enjoyment to gain from playing Tulane in a home-and-home each season, including a trip to New Orleans every other year. John Macon Gillespie made his case for the series being more frequent in Saturday morning's column.

4. The Grove Report staff gave its predictions for Ole Miss and Tulane this weekend, as well.

How does the staff see Ole Miss' Week 2 matchup shaking out? You can read the predictions here.
