Ole Miss Included in Pro Football Focus Way-Too-Early Top 25

Despite a subpar ending to the 2022 season, publications still have the Rebels ranked entering this fall.
In this story:

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels may have had a poor finish to their 2022 season, but that hasn't stopped experts around the country from placing Lane Kiffin's team in their way-too-early top 25 rankings.

The Rebels earned a spot in Pro Football Focus' version of these rankings, coming in at No. 21. Here's what the publication had to say about the upcoming season in Oxford.

21.

OLE MISS REBELS

(2022 RECORD: 8-5, LOST TEXAS BOWL)

Ole Miss started the season 8-1 before ending on a four-game losing streak.

Despite the sour end, expectations should be high for 2023. That’s because the Rebels bring back a rising superstar in running back

Quinshon Judkins

. His 88.2 grade was tied for the best among all Power Five true freshmen, and he ranked fourth in the nation this year with 91 rushing first downs plus touchdowns. Ole Miss also returns

Jaxson Dart

at quarterback, who tied for seventh in the Power Five with 25 big-time throws.

Judkins is expected to once again be a big part of the Ole Miss offense, but the jury is still out on the quarterback position. Will Jaxson Dart retain his starting spot, or will transfers Spencer Sanders and Walker Howard challenge for the crown?

Ole Miss opens its 2023 season at home against the Mercer Bears in September.
