OXFORD, Miss. -- Amid the craziness of the NCAA Transfer Portal and recruiting for early signing day, the Ole Miss Rebels took care of some important business on Tuesday afternoon, extending the contract of coach Lane Kiffin

Kiffin is coming off his second 10-win regular season in three years with the Rebels, and is preparing Ole Miss for its second New Year's Six appearance in the same amount of time. Kiffin, in four years with the Rebels, is 33-15 at Ole Miss and has led the program to bowl games each season.

Ole Miss' athletic director Keith Carter made the big announcement on Tuesday, and gave nothing but high praise for Kiffin, who has his football program headed in the right direction.

"Our football program is experiencing unprecedented success under Coach Kiffin, and we could not be more excited about what the future holds under his leadership," Carter said. "In just four years, he has established our team as a sustained winner that is on a trajectory to championship status. With our continued investment in the program and the tremendous support of the Grove Collective, the Ole Miss family is committed to providing Coach Kiffin the resources needed to compete at an elite level."

Kiffin was also able to comment on his extended stay at Ole Miss.

"We're doing things here that have never been done before, and with the commitment that our leadership and supporters are making, we have the opportunity to build on the foundation that has been established over the last four years," Kiffin said. "I'm grateful to Chancellor Boyce and Keith for their support, and we look forward to continuing on our path to becoming a championship program."

The Rebels must now prepare for their Peach Bowl matchup versus the Penn State Nittany Lions on Dec. 30, with hopes of brining home their first NY6 victory under Kiffin and their first 11-win season in program history.
