2023 Ole Miss Signee DeeJay Holmes Arrested: Report

According to reports, 2023 Ole Miss signee DeeJay Holmes was arrested on Monday night.

The Ole Miss Rebels have a talented 2023 football recruiting class signed and sealed heading into the summer. But one of those players has now run into some trouble.

According to reports from the Palm Beach Post, Rebels defense end/edge signee DeeJay Holmes was arrested on Monday night on charges of eluding an officer with active sirens - a third-degree felony.

The arrest occurred at 7:28 PM, and Holmes will need to appear in court for committing a criminal violation.

Even combining the Early Signing Period in December, however, one would be hard pressed to find a more productive pass rusher in the country than DeeJay Holmes. The Pahokee (Fla.) High School star broke the storied school's sack record and set the pace nationally with 32.5 sacks as a senior in 2022. He tallied 19.5 more as a junior, per MaxPreps.

In total, over two seasons with the Blue Devils, Holmes accounted for 209 tackles, 53 tackles for loss, 52 sacks, 86 hurries, seven forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, four pass deflections, and an interception in just 21 games.

He averaged a staggering 2.5 sacks per game over that time.

Holmes, back-to-back Palm Beach County Defensive Player of the Year award winner, helped Pahokee to nine wins as a senior.
