Rebels DB Markevious Brown Enters NCAA Transfer Portal

The Rebels have lost multiple players to the NCAA Transfer Portal on Wednesday

The Ole Miss Rebels roster turnover is in full swing following the end of spring football camp, with multiple players entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. And on Wednesday, that continued with Rebels defensive back Markevious Brown entering the portal.

Brown was the second Rebel to enter the portal on Wednesday, following the departure of two-sport star Tywone Malone earlier in the day.

Brown originally came to the Rebels as part of the 2021 recruiting class, where he was a four-star recruit and one of the key signings of the haul. However, Brown was never able to fully catch on with the Rebels, and spent his two seasons in Oxford as a rotational corner.

In his freshman campaign, Brown saw action in just five games, but recorded just two total tackles, spending the majority of his snaps on special teams and as a reserve. In his sophomore season, he was once again used as a reserve, but saw time in all 13 games, recording 19 tackles and two pass deflections.

That said, by the end of the season his role began to dwindle, with Brown recording just a handful of snaps over the last two games vs Mississippi State and Arkansas.

Brown now enters the portal, where he will have two years of eligibility remaining.
